Two American Heroes Speak to the Class
On May 19, 2010, we heard from two Viatnam Veterans. Hearing them speak was an amazing reminder of the sacrifices our veterans have made and the true meaning of Memorial Day.
The Speakers were Joseph Cassilly and Bob Griffin.
Joseph Cassilly, Harford County state's attorney, was an Army Ranger and was paralyzed after he fell from a helicopter ladder while under enemy fire. He is also an auther and is widely recognized for his advocacy work for the disabled including service on design teams for baltimore's sports stadiums, homes of the Ravens and Orioles.
Bob Griffin is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces sergeant major. While on a convert mission in Vietnam, he was captured by enemy forces and held as a Prisoner of War until, ten days later, he escaped. As a member of the Special Forces elite SOG, Griffin was an expert at escape and evasion.
